Master Bedroom Monogrammed Pillows

| | |

Late last year (wow, I can’t believe it’s been that long) I posted about my Master Bedroom Refresh.  And in my original design board for the refresh, I had planned on incorporating some monogrammed pillows.  I saw it in a magazine somewhere and fell in love with the idea.  I think it’s a subtle, yet adorable way to add some personalization to the room.  See what I’m talking about in the picture below with the L and the R on the blue pillow shams.

These are the shams I bought from Ballard Designs from the Emma Jute Collection.  Ballard will actually monogram the shams for you, but they charge $31.50 each.  Which is super pricey in my opinion.  So that’s probably why I never pulled the trigger and did it.

Here are the shams as they’ve been in our room for the past 6 months not monogrammed.

Just a few weeks ago, I met a lady at my work who owned an embroidery business.  I asked her if she would be able to embroider my pillow shams with our initials and she said of course!  I was so excited to find a small local business to work with.  And the best part?  She only charged me $10 per pillow case.  A fraction of what Ballard wanted!  (This is Julie’s Embroidery website for anybody local who is interested.)

I gave her my pillow shams and had her match the threading of the letters to the jute trim already on the pillow shams.  It’s a brownish gold and I love how subtle, and neutral they turned out.

Here are my finished monogrammed pillows!

Did anyone else notice that they are on the “L”eft and “R”ight sides of the bed?  Or just me?

Comment and let me know your thoughts, I love hearing from you guys!

  1. It looks beautiful! It really takes the room up a notch by having the embroidered monogram pillows. Now it looks like your bedroom verses just anyone’s bedroom. The details of using the thread color are so important when using a classic design. Great job on the price too! This really goes nice with the rest of your house and adds the perfect finishing touch!
