Laundry Room Design Board

| | | |

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed I’m already working on my next project.  Yes, they never end.  This time?  It’s the Laundry Room.  I won’t even get into the reasons ‘why’ for those of you who may be wondering.  The real question is, ‘why not’?  Doing laundry is already pretty lame, so why not make it better by having a pretty space to do it in!

So without further ado, I’ll share the ‘before’ photos, followed by the design board and plans I have for the space.

Our laundry room already has +2 points for having a black door!

I apologize for not even bothering to tidy up before I took these photos.  As you can see, it’s not too large of a space.  It came fully equipped with a builder grade wire rack, yellow paint, and state of the art machines.  Insert sarcasm.

Unfortunately I will be keeping the white machines, because “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”.  I would totally love a set of machines that were front loading so that I could put a counter top over them for folding space etc., but that won’t be happening anytime soon.  Unless of course one of them “accidentally breaks”.  Ahem.

So here’s the list of what I want to do:

– Paint the walls Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter.  If you haven’t heard of it, you probably don’t have Pinterest!

– Install wainscoting to the wall on the left side of the room, opposite the machines

– Instal crown molding

– Remove the wire rack and replace with 3 white cabinets

– Build a shelf between the cabinets and machines to hold laundry detergent, etc.

– Install a hanging bar between the cabinets and wall to have a spot for dry hang clothing

– Add a bamboo shade to the window (maintaining the bamboo shade theme throughout my home)

– Replace the light fixture

– Decorate with accessories

Here’s the design board I’ve put together for the space.  I’m going to link the sources of the items pictured that I plan to purchase for this makeover.

Bamboo Shade (Home Depot)

Lantern Pendant (Ballard Designs)

Cabinets (Lowe’s)

Rug (Ballard)

Safety Pin wall decor (Ballard)

– Wainescoting (DIY)

– Shelf (DIY)

Milk Crate Baskets (Target)

Gallery Frames (Target)

Wood Hangers (Container Store)

Hanging bar (Lowe’s)

– Flowers, Detergent jar, trash can (probably Home Goods)

So what do you think?  I’m excited to get this show on the road!

    1. Thanks so much! I’m a little anxious about this particular project because I think it officially means I’m running out of rooms to do!!! 🙂

  2. Love the idea!!!
Believe it or not this space is bigger than mine. I literally have only a closet and two machines that fit perfectly in the opening with no room for improvement!

Any particular reason you went to Home Depot for blinds and lowes for cabinets? Just curious

    1. Thanks Simone! I’ve seen plenty of cute ideas on Pinterest for closet laundry rooms by the way, you should check them out!
No particular reason I went to HD vs Lowe’s, I honestly love both places and don’t discriminate 🙂

  3. I like how you put things together, you are very talented. I am in the process of buying a new home but my ideas fall flat because in my mind they look great, however reality usually hits me hard. I noticed you use a program to keep them together so they can flow. Can you tell me what it is please and thank you.

    1. Thank you Isabel! I know what you mean and the design boards help me a lot to visualize everything beforehand. I use a program on my macbook called Pages.
