Laundry Room DIY Renovation

Laundry room reveal day!  It’s finally here!  On one hand I feel like this has taken 82 years, but on the other hand I feel like I was just posting about my laundry room makeover at our old house (which was *gasp* in 2015!)  While I can say that my style has changed some over the years, my washer and dryer certainly has not!  One of my main goals/challenges for this space was to work around our existing laundry machines, while also keeping in mind they won’t be here forever and I’d like to make this space work for potential front loading machines in the future.

To truly appreciate this renovation you need to be reminded of where I started just 7 weeks ago.

Some of my other goals for our laundry room were to:

1. Add more storage.  (Our house lacks storage in general)
2. Hide all of the vacuum/broom/mop stuff
3. Create a countertop area for folding clothes
4. Keep adequate hanging space
5. Add hooks for more hanging/storage
6. Not break the bank
7. Keep the laundry basket open and exposed so I can continue walking by and throwing things in from the doorway!
8. Be gorgeous and flow with the rest of my home

Cabinets

• Cabinet Build Plans:
  For the basket cabinet and tall broom cabinet I used these plans and modified them for my needs.
  For the 4 door wall cabinet I used these plans and modified them for my sizes.
  Shaker style doors were ordered from Barker Door, I did not build them.
• Wood used for cabinet boxes: Radiata Pine
• 1×4, 1×3, and 1×2 trim used for cabinet face frames and crown molding
• Cabinet PAINT COLOR:  Benjamin Moore Boothbay Gray
• Paint Sprayer I used to paint cabinets
• Cabinet hinges
• Cabinet knobs in golden champagne
• Tall cabinet pull in golden champagne
• Decorative feet added to basket cabinet
• Tools used to build cabinet boxes: Kregjig K4, circular saw, Kregjig rip cut, Miter saw and drill.

Tile

• 4×12 porcelain marble look tile
• Sticky tile adhesive
• Grout in color Frost
• Score and snap tile cutter I used for 95% of the cuts
• West saw I bought for the remaining cuts.  (Lowe’s will also cut a few tiles for you if you bring them in)

Sconce Light

• Sconce Light Fixture (NOT hardwired)
• Battery operated puck light and remote 

Shelves/Countertop

• 2x10x8 pine lumber used to make the shelf above the hanging bar and the shelf above the washer and dryer
• 2x6x8 pine lumber used to make the countertop on the basket cabinet
• Tools used to build these: table saw, circular saw, planer, Kregjig K4
• Stain color varathane briarsmoke
• Polyurethane top coat
